Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 2026
1. Overview
Papyrus by SynaptixLabs ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
2. Data We Collect
Account information: When you register, we collect your email address, name, and an encrypted password. If you use Google OAuth, we receive your Google profile name and email.
Content: Articles, comments, and other content you create on the platform are stored in our database.
Usage data: We track basic interaction events with visual packs (e.g., which animations were viewed) to help authors improve their content. No personal identifiers are attached to these events.
3. Cookies
We use a single essential cookie (papyrus-consent) to remember your cookie preference, and a theme cookie (papyrus-theme) to save your light/dark mode choice. We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or third-party advertising cookies.
4. How We Use Your Data
- To provide and operate the Papyrus platform
- To authenticate your account and manage sessions
- To send transactional emails (password reset, email verification)
- To improve our service based on aggregated, anonymized usage data
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Neon (cloud provider). Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. All traffic is served over HTTPS. Media files are stored via Vercel Blob Storage with encrypted-at-rest support.
6. Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Rectify inaccurate data
- Delete your account and associated data
- Export your content
- Object to processing of your data
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. To exercise other rights, contact us at the email below.
7. AI Features
When you use "Ask Papyrus" or the feedback AI feature, your queries are sent to third-party AI providers (Google Gemini, Groq) for processing. We do not store AI conversation logs beyond your current session. Article content used for RAG (retrieval-augmented generation) is chunked and stored as embeddings in our database.
